The widow of Dennis Cockell, who tattooed Adam Ant and members of The Sex Pistols and Bananarama, is embroiled in a High Court dispute over his estate with his 57 year old “secret daughter”, CindyLee Cockell, who has proved she is his biological child through DNA testing.
Cindylee is 57, and it is typically tricky for an independent adult child to successfully bring such a claim under the Inheritance (Provisions for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. However, Cindylee states that anxiety and depression caused by her late father's death has left her unable to work.
Given Cindylee is only claiming £42,500 plus a tattoo sheet estimated to be worth a few thousand pounds, it seems inevitable that the costs of the claim will quickly outweigh the award sought.
