Katie advises on almost all areas of private client law from bespoke domestic estate planning to tax planning for non-UK domiciled individuals.
Katie joined Stevens & Bolton as a consultant in 2018. Prior to this she worked for a leading international law firm for the entirety of her legal career which included two overseas secondments to Jersey and Switzerland. Katie was also educated overseas, and this coupled with her early legal career means that, whilst she is very comfortable advising domestic clients with their estate and tax planning, she often assists clients with an international dimension to their affairs.
Katie has a very broad practice area from helping clients put in place wills and LPAs to advising her clients on more complex trust and holding structures including for business assets. Katie is also particularly adept in providing UK tax advice for non-UK domiciled individuals, co-ordinating cross-border estate and succession planning and helping clients to reach pragmatic solutions in contentious trust and tax matters.
Katie is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) having completed the STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates (England and Wales). Katie has also received a number of accolades including being named "Best Domestic Estate Planning Lawyer - UK" at the 2023 Wealth and Finance Retirement Planning Awards, "Estate & Tax Planning Lawyer of the Year - UK" at the 2022 Wealth and Finance Retirement Planning Awards, being a finalist at the British Legal Awards and was awarded Citywealth’s Tomorrow Club Woman of the Year Award (2010).
