Charlie is Head of the Commercial and Technology Team and Co-head of Sport. He advises clients on their key transactions in this space. He is a relationship-driven lawyer and really enjoys helping clients buy and sell digital products and solutions, implement new market opportunities or steer through the rapidly emerging legal landscape associated with AI and new technologies.
In particular, Charlie spends much of his time advising on fintech matters and the cross-over between technology and the financial services sector. This includes platform arrangements, customer-facing documentation (including the FCA Consumer Duty), material outsourcing arrangements, custody and clearing contracts, appointed representative arrangements, consumer credit issues, payment services and emoney. Charlie also advises on perimeter guidance queries and assists clients in liaising with the FCA, including authorisation/permission and change of control applications.
Charlie also co-leads our sports practice. He has significant experience on the football regulatory aspects of the acquisition and disposal of football clubs, and works closely with our corporate team to provide a full service offering to owners and potential owners of sports clubs. Charlie also regularly advises clients active in the professional golf space, including in connection with sponsorship deals.
Charlie joined Stevens & Bolton in 2016, prior to which he trained and worked at a leading City firm.
