As those of you who have been following the progress of the implementation of ECCTA (Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023) will know, identity verification for new incorporations, directors, persons of significant control, and those delivering documents to Companies House, is coming down the line. During August, Companies House published its 2024/25 business plan, which confirmed that we can expect this mandatory requirement to be in place by the end of March 2025, with a phased rollout from then on. Companies House is busy developing the IT infrastructure for this as we speak. This forms part of the four specific objectives of the Registrar set out in the Act, supporting the overarching objective of tackling economic crime and corporate transparency.
