No fault divorce: A handy procedural guide

It will be a steep learning curve for most family practitioners, but the forthcoming change to no fault divorce on 6 April will also be a challenge for anyone wanting to apply for their divorce personally. See our useful guide to explain the forthcoming changes in more detail.

The attached flow chart will walk you through the different stages of the divorce, and explains the joint and sole application options that are now available.

It also uses the new language being used. Gone are references to petitions and decrees, replaced instead by less archaic divorce applications and orders.

If you need any further advice on the changes, please don't hesitate to contact one of the family team.
